A Professional Guide to Packing Your Digital Viscometer
Shipping high-precision laboratory equipment like a Digital Viscometer requires more than just a standard box. To maintain the calibration of the internal motor and torque sensors, you must follow a rigorous packing protocol.
Below is our detailed guide and video demonstration to help you prepare your instrument for safe transit.

The Packing Process
1. Disassembly and Sensor Protection
The most critical step is protecting the internal mechanics.
Unplug the Unit: Disconnect the power cord from both the wall and the back of the viscometer head.
Detach the Head: Loosen the mounting knobs on the stand and slide the main unit upward to remove it from the support pole.
Secure the Coupling: Screw the protective metal cap onto the spindle coupling to lock the internal sensor in place.
Physical Buffer: Place a plastic container around the coupling area to prevent any external pressure from reaching the screw.
2. Multi-Layer Cushioning
Shock protection is vital for electronic instruments.
Bubble Wrap: Wrap the viscometer head in multiple layers of thick bubble wrap.
Tape Seal: Use clear adhesive tape to secure the wrap so it remains tight during handling.
3. Box Configuration
As seen in our video, the box must be rigid and reinforced.
Dimension Check: Choose a heavy-duty box with appropriate measurements to allow for several inches of padding on all sides.
Polystyrene Lining: Line the bottom and all vertical walls with thick polystyrene sheets to create a shock-absorbing interior.
The "Zero-Movement" Fit: Place the wrapped unit inside and fill all voids with extra foam pieces so the device cannot shift.
4. External Security
The outside of the box must be durable enough for global shipping.
Sealing: Seal the top flaps securely with heavy-duty brown packing tape.
Industrial Strapping: Apply plastic shipping straps using a tensioning and crimping tool to reinforce the box and provide a lifting handle.
Labeling: Ensure "Fragile" and "This Side Up" icons are clearly visible on the exterior.
