Brookfield Viscometer Nabl calibration

On-site NABL viscometer calibration in chennai— done by engineers who have serviced Brookfield instruments for over a decade, not handed off to a generic metrology van.

What NABL Accreditation Actually Means for Your Instrument

  • NABL accreditation isn’t a stamp — it’s a system. It means our calibration laboratory operates under ISO/IEC 17025, which governs everything from how we handle the reference fluids and maintain their storage temperature, to how we calculate measurement uncertainty and record traceability. Every calibration result we issue can be traced back through an unbroken chain to the national standards maintained by CSIR-NPL in New Delhi.
  • Regulatory Compliance

FDA 21 CFR Part 211, Schedule M, and WHO GMP all require traceable instrument qualification. A NABL certificate satisfies this requirement directly.

  • Uncertainty Quantification

You don’t just get a pass/fail. Our certificate states the expanded uncertainty at k=2 (95% confidence interval), so you know the actual measurement window your QC decisions rest on.

  • Audit-Ready Documentation

The certificate we issue includes all the information a CDSCO or US FDA auditor requires — instrument ID, spindle details, reference fluid traceability, and engineer sign-off.

  • Cross-Lab Comparability

If your Hyderabad lab needs to share viscosity data with a partner facility in Europe or North America, NABL-traceable results are internationally recognised through the ILAC MRA framework.

Our On-Site Calibration Procedure — Step by Step

Here’s what actually happens when our engineer arrives at your facility. We don’t skip steps, and we don’t compress a two-hour procedure into 30 minutes to rush to the next client.

Brookfield Viscometer Calibration Procedure

  1. Incoming Instrument Inspection

We inspect the spindle coupling, guard leg, shaft alignment, and drive motor for visible wear, play, or damage. If there’s a spindle that’s been bent and straightened — which happens more than people admit — we flag it before calibration, not after. A compromised spindle invalidates results regardless of what the reference fluid says.

  2. Controlled Temperature Setup

Viscosity is highly temperature-dependent. We bring a calibrated reference thermometer (itself NABL-traceable) and perform calibration under controlled conditions — typically 25.0 ± 0.1°C unless your process requires a specific temperature point. We don’t calibrate at ambient lab temperature and assume it’s correct.

  3. Reference Fluid Verification

We use certified Newtonian viscosity reference fluids with NIST-traceable certificates and valid expiry dates. The lot numbers and certificate references are recorded on your calibration certificate. We never reuse opened reference fluids beyond their shelf life.

  4. Multi-Point Measurement

We take readings at multiple spindle speeds across the instrument’s torque range — not just at one speed where the viscometer happens to perform well. For instruments with model-specific ranges (e.g., LV vs. HA torque range), the spindle and speed selection is matched accordingly.

  5. Deviation Analysis and Adjustment

We calculate the percentage error at each measurement point against the reference value. If any point exceeds the manufacturer’s stated accuracy specification, we perform the necessary adjustment and re-run the measurement sequence. We don’t issue a certificate for an instrument that fails and call it “as-found.”

  6. NABL Calibration Certificate Issue

The final certificate includes as-found and as-left data, measurement uncertainty, environmental conditions at time of calibration, full traceability chain, next recommended calibration date, and our NABL accreditation number. It’s signed by our calibration engineer and countersigned by our technical signatory.
